Top 10 Christmas Gift Ideas for the Nintendo Wii Gamer
January 30th, 2010 by carlmorrow1960Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will begin a new era of easy, social gaming. For the first time, characters from the Nintendo universe will be playable online, as part of a unique wireless community, accessible inside or outside the home. Nintendo DS games like Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Metroid Prime Hunters will require no additional charge for online play.
Each is scheduled to launch in the coming months, along with the first third-party title using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, Activision's Tony Hawk's American SK8Land, developed by Vicarious Visions.
From home, if the user already has a Wi-Fi network, the Nintendo DS unit will connect directly to it with minimal setup procedures. Those who have a high-speed Internet connection such as cable or DSL, but no wireless network, can use the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, sold separately, that will plug into a computer USB port to create a wireless access point to connect to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
Outside of the home, players will be able to connect in a variety of ways, including at thousands of free Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection hotspots nationwide. More details about these hotspots and how to connect outside of the home will
be announced shortly.
Nintendo DS is just the first Nintendo system to connect via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The same service will be incorporated into Nintendo's next-generation home console, code-named Nintendo Revolution, set for release
in 2006.
“Nintendo has taken the online video gaming model and rewritten the definition of community,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. “With easy setup and no added service fees, players far and wide will log in and play with one another as easily as if they were sitting in the same room.”
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection will create a welcome, inviting atmosphere where video game players of all kinds can log on wirelessly and begin playing. The service will be used in different ways for different games. In Mario Kart DS,
four players at a time can race over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Racers can pick opponents from their roster of friends, match up randomly against strangers of comparable skill levels or simply choose to race against anyone
in the world. Mario Kart DS launches Nov. 14.
People who hang out in Animal Crossing: Wild World can travel to other players' towns or invite up to three other players to visit their own towns, simply by opening the town gate. The four players then can interact and play
together simultaneously in one town. Players must know one another and register to their respective friend rosters before they can connect. Animal Crossing: Wild World is set to launch on Dec. 5.
Activision's Tony Hawk's American Sk8land will let players compete head-to-head in multiplayer games in a variety of modes. Players also can create custom skateboard art and graffiti tags, and share them with other players via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The service will track global high scores and stats. Tony Hawk's American SK8Land will launch on Nov. 14.
Games in development include Metroid Prime Hunters, slated to launch in the first quarter of 2006. Players can hook up for play with registered friends, automatch with other players based on a skill-level match or play with anyone; Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection quickly finds the best match with other players online.

Won't be as "good" as a DSLR - smaller sensor and no intercahngeable lenses and no RAW mode but will be much better than a P&S Compact - larger sensor - great optical zoom.
As it says it's a "Bridge" camera that bridges between the other two formats.
I also own a Finepix s9600 Bridge model as well as a P&S Olympus compact and a Sony DSLR and the Bridge model is very good at what it does but not as good as a DSLR and I would recommend them for someone who's not goint to get into changing lenses but wants more creative options tha a current compact may offer.
Pity it doesn't shoot RAW though…. (my model does)

Fuji grabs the honor as the first-ever 3D digital camera. You can now buy the Fuji W1, a stereoscopic 3D 10 MP model with a 3x optical zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD 3D viewfinder, for $600 through Fuji's online store. You can also shoot regular old 2D photos as well.
The W1 also captures 3D videos, stored in a new format called .mpo, based on the multi picture format (MPF) standard. As with any digital camera, images and video are stored on an SD card, but you'll need around twice as much space as you would for 2D photos to store 3D stills and videos, which are limited to around 2 GB (around 20 minutes) for a single clip.
Since there aren't any 3D HDTVs for sale yet, you can view your stills and video on any Nvidia-equipped 120 Hz PC monitor with a DVI connection, and/or you can buy Fuji's 7-inch digital picture/video viewer frame ($500). You don't need glasses to view stills or video on the frame. It uses a technology called “parallax barrier” to create the 3D effect, but it has a tiny sweet spot. Viewing in anything other the perfect position, you see double images. Fuji is chatting up 3D HDTV makers to try and get them to include SD card slots that can read the still and .mpo video files.
You also can get hard copies, which sort of look like larger versions of the holographic cards you used to get inside of Cracker Jack boxes, but uploading your 3D image files to www.seehere.com - or so we were told. There's nothing on the site indicating 3D printing capability.

Canon VIXIA HFS100 Camcorder Review
January 28th, 2010 by carlmorrow1960KyoceraLaserdrucker billiger bestellen
Professional level cameras are easy to find these days, and the Canon models are no exception. The EOS 1-D is one of the best currently offered by Canon. Recently redesigned, this Canon digital is one camera that should really fit into every professional's camera bag. Canon has had years of experience building and perfecting the very best in photographic technology, and the quality of the pictures taken practically speak for themselves.
One of the features Canon is most proud of with this digital SLR is the Highlight Tone Priority feature. This feature allows the camera to capture exceptional levels of detail within a picture's highlight zone. This has proven to be a major problem with digital photography, and Canon's EOS-1D Mark III is the first digital SLR to address it properly. It captures that level of detail yet requires no reduced level of shooting speed or burst rate, allowing photographers to shoot high quality images without stopping to reset the camera mode they are in. The range of potential uses for this system ranges from weddings to sports photography, and everything in between, allowing high levels of detail in brightly light areas.
Canon's chosen image processor is a dual Digic III image processor, allowing the EOS-1D to reproduce images of uncommon detail, clarity, and natural color reproduction. Using dual processors allows Canon to capture more detailed pictures more quickly from the 10.1-megapixel sensor.
Also new to the EOS-1D digital SLR is a new viewfinder, employing a new optical system with a larger pentaprism for better magnification of images through the viewfinder. As you would expect, this Camera's viewfinder provides 100% coverage of the photograph area, showing nothing more or less than exactly what will be in the finished picture. Full-time ISO indicators and metering icons fit in the frame with battery level indicator, mode in use, as well as JPEG/ RAW recording indicators. A 3-inch LCD monitor features a Live View shooting mode, allowing the photographer to use the LCD screen as a viewfinder when enabled. Use of this mode allows a mirror within the camera to be locked, as well, steadying the shot to prevent blurred images. This is available during manual focusing only, however, so that you can still get great artistic action shots with the autofocus.
The LCD monitor also allows for a portion of the screen to magnify a portion of the shot by 5 to 10 times in order to reduce eyestrain during macro shots. It allows you to fine-tune your shot without having to constantly peek through the viewfinder.
Also on the EOS 1-D is an all new Autofocus technology, 57 different custom modes, dual memory card slots for uninterrupted shooting, an optional data security kit, integrated cleaning system, and a wireless file transmitter to send pictures directly to your computer instantly without having to wire up the system.
Canon's EOS 1-D Mark III is one of the strongest cameras on the professional market today, and is easily the best contender for all-around best professional digital SLR camera introduced this year. If you're a professional photographer, or an aspiring professional, there are few better ways to spend your money.

A Beginner's Guide to Six Sigma
January 27th, 2010 by carlmorrow1960These days, companies regurgitate old franchises like owl pellets left and right and Ninja Gaiden Sigma is no exception. Sometimes it is a bad idea such as in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, but in the case of Ninja Gaiden, it is a pleasant gift. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is basically a rehash of Ninja Gaiden/Ninja Gaiden Black from the XBOX with some features added and removed. I played Ninja Gaiden Black on the XBOX and was pleased at the time with it, but looking at it now, the game has not aged well at all. Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the Playstation 3 is a beautiful game that lets those who missed the XBOX game a chance to enjoy a gem and for those who played the original on the XBOX, a chance to relive those fond memories without the muddy textures and jaggies of old.
Graphic and sound:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is a beautiful game without a doubt. It uses high-res textures and supports video output up to 1080p unlike the original which was 480p. The outdoor environments look lush and full of life, especially the autumn forest in the beginning with the leaves falling. Character models are also highly detailed and animated very well. Players will thoroughly enjoy decapitating opponents again and again. For those that played the original on the XBOX, playing the game is almost a new experience in terms of visuals eye candy. There are noticeable camera issues that have still not been resolved and become frustrating at times. Sound effects and voiceovers are of quality and best enjoyed in surround sound.
Gameplay and controls:
Gameplay is a single player campaign in the 3rd person with optional 1st person viewing while the character is stationary a la Tomb Raider. The game has the option to be installed which reduces loading time considerably. The game focuses on playing through numerous missions and fighting a sub-boss or boss at the end of each. After the game is completed, one can submit his/her scores onto a leader board for ranking. There are several downloadable content available on the Playstation Store such as survival modes and Rachel specific survival modes.
Some features have been added such as: Ryu can combat enemies while running on water, shooting arrows while in the air, use of restoration items without entering the menu system, new enemies, more save points, new playable character (Rachel), two new bosses, and reworked levels. Also, some features are missing now such as the ability to play the original NES Ninja Gaiden, some puzzles, and other items.
Overall thoughts:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma is not a complete version, but if you have not played the original XBOX version a few years ago, then this will definitely make up for it. Ninja Gaiden Sigma is an enjoyable visual treat and will hold most players over until the release of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, which is a rehash of Ninja Gaiden 2 from the XBOX 360.

Back in the 1980s and 1990s, a lot of great games were released as part of Disney's relationship with Capcom (Mega Man, Resident Evil). One of these was The Magical Quest, a platform game starring Mickey Mouse which, while quite short, was nothing less of spectacular on account of its inspired game play, beautiful graphics, and excellent music. In 2002, ten years after its release on the Super NES, the game was ported to the Game Boy Advance, keeping many of its features intact while adding a few new things to make it feel like a new experience. Unlike other Game Boy Advance remakes, however, there are not a whole lot of changes, nor does the overall experience feel all that different from the original version. The result is a port that, while still fun, could have been even better.
The story opens during a game of catch, wherein Mickey's dog Pluto chases after a runaway ball. Mickey in turn races after him, only to fall off a cliff and land in a magical world. Here, he meets a wise wizard who informs him that this place is under the rule of the evil Emperor Pete, who has captured Pluto. Naturally, Mickey is determined to overthrow the emperor and rescue his dog, and thus he sets off despite the wizard's warnings of Pete's powerful magic. The plot serves its purpose, but it is not very special at all. There is a nice, if a bit predictable, twist at the end of the game, however.
As you journey through the game's six worlds, each containing 3-4 stages (the last stage in each world is always a boss level), you experience some standard platform fare: enemies to defeat, items (such as coins that can be used in stores to buy other items) to collect, and obstacles to overcome. The worlds themselves range from a fire-filled cavern to a mountain with gusty winds to an ice world with floes that you can ride on. The individual stages are mostly quite short, but a lot of them are quite fun to play, and some of the obstacles, such as a magic carpet ride where you avoid spikes that cause instant death (Mickey has hearts that symbolize his health level, and he can pick up heart containers to extend his life), are quite challenging. Additionally, the boss battles are filled with excitement and some of them can really keep you on your toes.
Over the course of the game, Mickey obtains costumes that give him a variety of useful skills. As his normal self, he can grab blocks and send them at other enemies. As a sorcerer, he can fire powerful blasts of magic and stay underwater indefinitely. Firefighter Mickey can use his hose to douse fires and deal with Pete's fiery minions. Lastly, he can become a climber and use his hook to attack and latch onto things. You have the option to change outfits as the situation demands, and the costume feature as a whole gives this game more depth than the average platform game.
For the Game Boy Advance version, some new features have been added. First, you have the option to play as either Mickey or Minnie. When it comes to platform games with multiple playable characters, it should be a rule of thumb to give each of them different abilities to make each of their experiences feel unique. Unfortunately, Minnie's moves are exactly the same as Mickey's, and aside from slightly different dialog in the cut scenes and different-looking outfits, her quest is identical to that of her boyfriend. I feel that Minnie was added in order to attract more girls to the game and to extend the replay value slightly. Speaking of which, while the game is still quite short, a save anywhere feature has been added. It is a good thing if you only play the game in very short sessions, but since the game can be completed within an hour or two, and you still get unlimited continues, it is otherwise a bit useless.
Some new mini games are thrown in for one or two players. They involve Mickey and Minnie trying to win a race or collect more items than the other player. While sort of fun, it can wear off a bit fast, and there is no option to quickly switch from one game to another. Instead, the players will need to turn off their systems and then turn them on again to resume playing, which is a bit annoying. Lastly, some of the items in the stores hidden throughout the game have items that can be used by linking up with Magical Mirror for the Gamecube. I have never done this, so I do not know what this feature does. Since the two games were released at around the same time, it makes me wonder if the port exists solely for linking purposes.
So is the port any good? In a lot of ways, it is. It still offers the same great feel that the SNES version did years ago. The unique features such as the costume aspect make it stand out, and those who love Disney games in general are in for a real treat. The short length was a minor issue in the original, but in a time when games are getting longer, the brief length here, even with the addition of Minnie, make this a game that can be beaten completely in a day or so. The new features in general add little to the game…perhaps more levels could have been added to the mix. As a game, it is pretty solid, but as a port, it leaves something to be desired.
The graphics have been largely untouched as a result of the translation from television to hand held system, and the result is a bright and colorful experience from start to finish. You get a real sense that you are watching a classic Disney cartoon throughout your journey. One gripe that I have is that the dialog boxes are now larger, and they tend to cover Mickey and Minnie's facial expressions, but otherwise, the graphics are solid. Less so is the music…the tunes that sounded absolutely beautiful in the original have been downgraded substantially, sometimes sounding like they came from a Game Boy Color game. There are some wonderful songs here, but for whatever reason Capcom ended up butchering them. If you want to listen to the tunes the way they were meant to be heard, look them up on Youtube.
The Game Boy Advance version of The Magical Quest is a mixed bag. While it still has a lot of the magic of the SNES version, its mediocre new features and brief length keep it from being a more solid title. Nevertheless, it is worth trying out whether or not you have played the original. It is a fine example of what great platform games should be like. I only wish that even more effort was put into this port, as such a classic game deserves a more lavish treatment.

Customer feedback:
1. My brother owns an earlier model and loved it. we used it once however never pursed buying one until this year. Now we are running around the house grabbing all our home movies on 8mm, and VHS, we have started moving them all to DVD. This is awesome.
We had a sony handycam that we just do not use much but. had about 10 8mm tapes that had family stuff on it that we had not looked at in years. We purchased this yesterday and have been copying 8mm tapes all evening. it absolutly is bringing new life to a video camera that we felt was worthless. We plan on useing the camera more and more now that we have an easy way to move the video to DVD.
2. I purchased this DVDirect from HSN not Amazon, mine is piano black and shows every fingerprint ugh. This is a quality made video recorder BUT it is really intended for a Sony Camcorder being attached to it by the fire wire connection or by using Sony memory sticks. If you use Sony equipment with this, the DVDirect will record almost anything automatically. If you use another brand of Camcorder or camera, you are restricted to the composite (yellow, red, white) connections and the SD card slot for JPEG photo’s and then it’s pretty much a manual operation to get the video and JPEG photo’s onto DVD disks. That may sound discouraging, but to use all the features properly with a Sony Camcorder reads as very complicated procedures. The manual recording from non-Sony cameras is very simple and even though your using the worst way to copy video (composite cables) the video you get is outstanding.
Sony’s MHS-PM5 is an ultra compact and lightweight video camera with a rotating lens that swivels 270 degrees, 4x digital zoom, SteadyShot image stabilization and a 2.4-inch LCD display. These portable cameras feature also Face Detection technology to recognize and enhance faces by automatically correcting exposure. They support Memory Stick PRO Duo, SD/SDHC cards. The MHS-CM5 and MHS-PM5 bloggie cameras are priced at $200 and $190 respectively.
Sony introduces also the MHS-PM5K lens kit that allows the bloggie cameras to record 360-degree footage that can be viewed on a computer with the supplied PMB (Picture Motion Browser) software. The kit costs $170.

Canon VIXIA HFS100 Camcorder Review
January 27th, 2010 by carlmorrow1960Canon vs Fuji
In my opinion, a Canon digital camera is 100% better than a Fuji digital camera. I have owned Fuji digital cameras for many years and never really had many complaints. Fuji takes great pictures if the lighting is right. They are simple to use, with just enough manual controls to make things easy for the beginners. However, I recently received a Canon A410 digital camera. It really rocks!! I couldn't believe the quality of the pictures it takes.
It has 3.2 mega pixels and the pictures are so clear. Even the macro zoom gives you clear images from 2 inches away. It also has 3.2x optical zoom. This camera is so simple that a beginner will be able to use it with no problems with it set on auto. With all the manual settings, it will even thrill the more advanced photographer. When I first got the camera, I tried out all the different settings to find out which I liked best. All the pics were gorgeous! Then I turned it to Auto, and guess what! The pics still came out perfectly!! I even took some pics in an almost totally dark room. It picked up my subject so clearly!
If you are thinking about buying a digital camera, I would highly recommend buying a Canon. A new Canon A410 will cost you around $100-150. It is well worth the price! I know I will never buy anything but a Canon from now on.

PENTAX Canada Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of the PENTAX Optio E90 entry-level digital compact camera. The Optio E90 comes equipped with a host of user-friendly features and functions to make high-quality digital photography effortless, even for first-time digital camera users. These include the PENTAX exclusive Auto Picture mode that automatically selects the most appropriate shooting mode for a given subject or scene and Automatic Face Detection with Smile Capture for quick, effortless snapshots. Compatible with easy-to-find AA batteries, and with World Time and Date Imprint functions, the affordable Optio E90 makes an excellent travel companion.
The Optio E90 will be available in Canada mid-February 2010.
Major Features
1. Automatic Face Detection
The Optio E90 features the advanced Face Detection AF & AE function, which automatically detects the subject’s face, then optimizes the focus and exposure settings. It is also equipped with the Smile Capture function, which automatically releases the shutter the moment the camera detects the subject’s smile.
2. Auto Picture mode for automatic selection of the ideal shooting mode
The Optio E90 features the PENTAX-original Auto Picture mode, which automatically selects one of eight shooting modes (Landscape, Portrait, Night Scene, Night Scene Portrait, Flower, Sport, Standard, and Candlelight) for a given subject or scene, allowing you to effortlessly capture beautiful, high-quality images.
3. Comfortable, easy-to-hold design
The Optio E90’s exterior has a non-slip rubber coating that helps prevent the camera from accidentally slipping out of your hand. The right side of the front panel is slightly raised from the rest of the body to form a grip for a fatigue-free, firm and comfortable hold of the camera.
4. Powered by world-standard AA-size batteries
The Optio E90 is powered by two AA-size batteries, which can be found almost anywhere in the world, eliminating worries about unexpected battery shortage while traveling. Thanks to its highly energy-efficient design, it’s possible to take approximately 220 images* with a pair of fresh alkaline batteries, 600 images with fresh Lithium batteries*.
* Based on measurement conditions conforming to CIPA specifications.
5. Green mode assures easy shooting for beginners
With simple push-button operation, the Optio E90’s user-friendly Green mode automatically selects the optimum combination of exposure settings, ISO sensitivity and other factors for a given subject or scene. This mode not only makes high-quality digital photography simple and effortless, even for first-time digital photographers, but it is also ideal to use when asking someone else to take your picture.
6. Double anti-shake protection to prevent camera shake and subject shake in unfavourable conditions
- High-Sensitivity Digital SR anti-shake mode
When the Optio E90 detects low-lighting conditions in still-image shooting, it automatically raises the sensitivity to as high as ISO 1600, making it possible to use a higher shutter speed. This effectively minimizes the adverse effects of camera shake and subject movement under poor lighting conditions. - Movie SR mode**
During movie recording, the Optio E90 prevents blurry images by digitally minimizing annoying camera shake through the use of exclusive software.
** When the Movie SR mode is selected, the angle of view becomes narrower than normal shooting.
7. Digital filters to add personal, creative touches to recorded images
The Optio E90 comes equipped with six digital filters to add various visual effects to recorded images without needing a computer. In addition to the conventional Monochrome and Sepia filters, the Optio E90 offers the new Starburst filter, which creates cross-, heart- or star-shaped highlights from nighttime illuminations or reflections on the water. You can apply one or multiple filters to a single image.
8. Digital Panorama mode to compose extra-wide-perspective images
The Optio E90 features the creative Digital Panorama mode, which automatically creates a single panoramic picture from as many as three images. This easy-to-use mode comes in extremely handy when shooting expansive subjects, such as spectacular landscapes or high-rise buildings, which cannot be captured in a single standard-format image.
9. Exceptional image quality with approximately 10.1 effective megapixels
Combining approximately 10.1 effective megapixels with the high-performance PENTAX zoom lens, the Optio E90 delivers brilliant, high-quality images with well-defined details. Even when images are enlarged, you are assured of sharp, high-resolution prints with edge-to-edge sharpness.
10. Optical 3X zoom lens covering angles as wide as 31.5mm
The Optio E90 comes equipped with an optical 3X zoom lens covering focal lengths from approximately 31.5mm to 94.5mm (in the 35mm format). Its 31.5mm wide-angle coverage is particularly handy when photographing spectacular landscapes, magnificent architectures or group snapshots in a confined space. Coupled with the Intelligent Zoom and Digital Zoom functions, which allow even tighter zooming in on the subject without compromising image quality, you can extend the zoom range to approximately 17.1 times.
Also introduced is the Pentax Optio E90 digital camera, successor of E80, with 10 Megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD, and ISO 6400. It uses AA battery. The E90 will be available in Black and Wine Red and cost just $99.9.

With a couple of leaks to get our mouths watering, Pentax has at last confirmed its new trio of Optio cameras: the I-10 (pictured), H90, and E90. The SLR-inspired I-10 sports a 5x zoom, 12.1 megapixel sensor, 2.7-inch LCD and 720p / 30fps video capture. There's also optical image stabilization, smile capture, and face detection to round out the feature set — not bad for a $300 camera. Meanwhile, the similarly classy, 80s-inspired H90 checks most of the same boxes (including HD video, 12.1 megapixel stills and 5x zoom) with a $180 pricetag — we can only guess its sacrifices involve a downgraded lens, sensor or general sense of class. Finally, the E90 throws off all classic pretension and does up 10 megapixels, 3x zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD for a mere $100. No optical stabilization here, but the 6400 ISO and Digital Shake Reduction mode should help out a little bit. All three cameras ship next month. PR is after the break.
Review of the Panasonic HDC-TM300 Camcorder
January 27th, 2010 by carlmorrow1960The Flip MinoHD video camcorder took a page from the design of the iPod, it should have taken a few more pages but one was more than other video camcorder vendors have done. The Flip is an inexpensive device, but perhaps more importantly it is a simple to use device. The Flip Mino is about the size of an iPod, this is tiny compared to the different camcorder models available from Sony, Canon, and Panasonic. You can put your iPod and Flip Mino in the same back pocket and be ready to film life as you go. In addition to the slim form factory, the controls are incredibly simple and intuitive to use. When recording, you can only zoom in and out and stop. When playing back, you can put the volume up or down, move to the next clip, or pause. The usability of the Flip Mino is soo simple that a grandparent, who may not yet have mastered the blinking 12:00 of the family VHS player, will be able to record video clips of the grand kids with the Flip Mino without reading the manual. The Flip is the first point and shoot sort of camcorder.
The Flip MinoHD is great for impromptu video recording, it is soo small and light that I carry one with me in my laptop bag. The Kodak moment is now the Flip moment. For me the Flip Mino has become a utility. I recently used it when I was looking at new apartments, I simply walked through the apartment as the manager pointed out highlights. I've also started to record our favorite family recipes and I am building a personal video cookbook. The Flip Mino is so unobtrusive and inconspicuous that I have it to record bits and pieces performances or shows.
The video quality is better than you expect, better than similarly priced web cams. The video is just perfect to upload to video sites such as Vimeo, YouTube and Flickr's 'long photo' video. The Flip Mino can be a useful tool for video bloggers and content producers. Sites like Associated Content accept original video clips. With the Flip Mino you can easily create hands on tutorials on everything from exercise techniques to jewelry making.
Over the past year the Flip Mino has made great gains in the camcorder market share and and their is a nice cottage industry of third party accessories for it. Their a personalized and customized face plates, pocket size tripods, water proof cases, and protective sleeves.
As a gadget lover, the Flip MinoHD camcorder is an object of my affection and it's slim form factor has made it a basic utility.

At this point, movies shot with the Canon 5D Mark II are getting to be a dime a dozen. "Betrayed," a short thriller co-written and directed by Joshua Grossberg with cinematography by photographer Robert Caplin, is a little different though.
First of all, there's a narrative plot along with a couple of semi-recognizable stars, Seth Gilliam (one of our favorites from The Wire), PJ Sosko, and Cara Buono (The Sopranos).
The story follows husband and reporter James Vance (Sosko) who "mysteriously
disappears, but not before leaving a cryptic video diary leading law
enforcement to unravel the crime of his demise."
(Update: To read an interview with the director of Betrayed, click here.)
Sounds intriguing. What's also intriguing is that some of the cinematography on Betrayed was done by photographer Vincent Laforet of Reverie and Nocturne fame. When we first told you about Betrayed last summer, Laforet's name was being used to promote the film but that's no longer the case.
Either way, Betrayed is worth a look. Here's the trailer.

Ankit,
I've been an MBB in GE and lived in the Lean world of Valeo. I have seen the merits of both, but there are clear differences as well.
The integration of the two is possible, but the way in which much depends upon the vision the company pursues.
In the report I've sent you, you can also read back how companies integrate Lean and Six Sigma in different ways.
For me the way you integrate both (if you desire to do so) is related to the essence of the two:
- Six Sigma is a project approach and leads to improvement projects. You can chose to integrate Lean elements into this approach but it remains a project-oriented approach to improvement, mostly executed by specialists with specific job titles like change agent, black belt, etc.
- Lean is not a project approach but does not contain elements that be used in such an approach. Most LSS approaches are project approaches with Lean elements. However, Lean in a broader sense is a system based upon principles in itself based upon a fundamental way of looking at the world. Can we integrate the project approach of Six Sigma and its tools into this system? Sure we can. But there is a big difference between Six Sigma with Lean and Lean with Six Sigma!
Put differently: is there a difference between continuously running improvement projects and continuous improvement?
Best,
Rob

Seems like Toyota is about to indirectly fess up about their accelerator pedal problems.
Toyota stops sales of 8 models in recall - USATODAY.com
When GM had problems, everyone blamed unions for their problems. I maintained at the time that GM's issues were not union, but management problems.
Toyota has no unions in North America and they are now facing problems as well. If they had unions in North America, someone would have blamed the unions for their problems
So, using both logic, how can anyone not see that, GM's problems are management problems, just as it was with Toyota?
And Lean Six Sigma is the most powerful wool (huh) being pulled over the eyes of many corporations. Lean Six Sigma cannot develop a mind that is incapable of serious thinking. Lean Six Sigma is just a useless technical, command and control tool—nothing more. I hate it with every fibre of my person.
Gonna look into getting anew lens soon. I've decided that along with my sigma 10-20mm f3.5-4.5, canon 50mm f1.8 and canon 24-105mm f3.5-4.5 I should get a 18-50 and a 70-200 and sell that near useless 24-105 to put towards the purchases
I'm pretty set on the sigma 70-200 f2.8 but that's expensive and I won't be getting that just yet.
So to the fast 18/17-50mm f2.8's
it's tamron or sigma with the tamron being the wider. Neither have USM style motors (bit of a pain considering what I like to shoot - sport) and I know the tamron is brilliantly sharp. But the sigma is cheaper and can be found even cheaper else where. Question is how good is it? Should I stick with what I know or stump up the extra for the tamron?
